Grace General Hospital, located at 300 Booth Drive in Winnipeg's St. James-Assiniboia neighbourhood, operates a 24/7 Emergency Department serving the west side of the city as one of only three acute care hospitals in Winnipeg. As a 270-bed facility and operating division of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, it provides a full continuum of emergency, critical care, surgical, and medical services including after-hours emergency general surgery. Patients requiring orthopedic trauma, ICU-level monitoring, or complex surgical intervention will find Grace well-equipped to handle high-acuity needs.
Paid parking is available on-site; payment is made at pay stations located near the Emergency Department entrance, Main Entrance, and within the Access Winnipeg West building at the end of your visit. Change is available at the cashier/inquiry desk near Admitting. The accessible South Parking Lot won the 2014 Winnipeg Access Award for Universal Design. Security escorts to and from your vehicle are available by calling 204-837-0366. Emergency contact stations and Assistance buttons are located throughout the lots. Limited street parking is available on nearby streets — check posted time limits. Drop-off and pick-up is permitted at the Main, Admitting, Emergency, and Dorothy Wood Building entrances.
Winnipeg Transit bus stops are located on Pearl McGonigal Way directly in front of Grace Hospital. Routes serving the hospital include 22, 220, FX3, 883, 885, and the BLUE rapid transit route. Transit-Plus (Handi-Transit) passengers should request drop-off at the Admitting Entrance. A free direct phone line to Transit-Plus and local taxi services is available inside the Emergency Department.
No historical wait-time data is available for this location. Generally, weekday mornings (8–11 a.m.) tend to be among the calmer periods at urban ERs. If your condition is not immediately life-threatening, arriving earlier in the day on a weekday may result in shorter waits.
Without historical data, specific busy periods cannot be confirmed. As a general pattern, urban emergency departments across Canada are typically busiest on Monday mornings, Friday and Saturday evenings, and during peak cold and flu season (November through March). Evenings after 6 p.m. and weekends often see higher volumes at Winnipeg ERs.
Emergency departments use triage — patients with more serious conditions are seen first, regardless of arrival time.
Wait times are estimates based on Manitoba health data using historical volumes, current patient counts, and staffing. Actual wait times may vary.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
