Frequently Asked Questions

Is the emergency department at Pineview Hospital (Victoria Hospital campus) open around the clock?
Yes. The emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
Does this hospital serve patients from northern Saskatchewan communities?
Yes. The Victoria Hospital campus in Prince Albert is the primary regional referral centre for northern Saskatchewan, serving roughly 80,000 people across one city, 40 towns and villages, and 12 First Nations communities. It is often described as the Gateway to the North for healthcare.
What is being built at the hospital and will it affect my visit?
A major multi-year construction project is underway to expand the hospital by approximately 40% — from 173 to 242 beds. The new acute care tower will include an expanded emergency department, a rooftop heliport, new operating rooms, an ICU, a mental health unit, and northern Saskatchewan's first MRI. During construction, allow extra time to navigate the campus and confirm current entrance access by calling 306-765-6000.
How does triage work in the emergency department?
Upon arrival, you will be assessed by a triage nurse who assigns a priority level based on the urgency of your condition. Patients are not seen in order of arrival. Critical cases such as cardiac arrest or major trauma are treated first, followed by very urgent conditions like chest pain or difficulty breathing. If your condition worsens while you are waiting, inform a triage nurse right away.
Is there parking at the hospital and is it free?
Parking is available on site but is not free. Main entrance users pay upon exit, while the North (Therapies) Entrance has pay-and-display parking. Accessible parking is available on the south side of the facility. There is no height restriction. The hospital is accessed from 1200 24th Street West.
Does this hospital have a virtual urgent care option?
Virtual urgent care is not offered directly through this facility. For non-emergency concerns, Saskatchewan residents can explore Saskatchewan Health Authority virtual care options or contact their family physician. Always call 911 or go directly to the emergency department for emergencies.
