St. Martha's Regional Hospital is a 89-bed acute care facility located at 25 Bay Street in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, serving residents of Antigonish, Guysborough, Richmond, and Inverness Counties. As the only Catholic hospital in Nova Scotia and the regional hub for Eastern Zone Nova Scotia Health, its emergency department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides access to a broad range of primary and secondary care services. Patients requiring emergency care, diagnostic imaging, mental health support, or specialized nursing services will find this ER a well-equipped entry point into the regional health system.

Where is the Emergency Department entrance at St. Martha's Regional Hospital?
The Emergency Department has a separate entrance located near the ambulance bay off Bay Street. After 11 p.m., the ER entrance closes and you should enter through the main hospital entrance instead. Signage throughout the building will direct you to the ED, which is located to the left of the registration desk.

Yes. Registered nurses with specialized education in medical forensic care for patients who have experienced sexual assault or abuse (SANEs) are available through the Emergency Department at St. Martha's Regional Hospital.

Yes. Children requiring treatment or observation are initially cared for in the Emergency Department. St. Martha's has nurses experienced in the care of children and their families, and parents or guardians are encouraged to remain with children during their stay.
