Grand River Hospital's emergency department, now part of the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) at the Midtown site on King Street West, is Waterloo Region's largest hospital emergency department and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located in Kitchener, ON, this full-service ED is supported by over 650 beds and 15 specialized programs including critical care, surgery, stroke, pediatrics, and maternal-child services. Patients with serious or life-threatening conditions in Waterloo Region should come here for access to the region's broadest range of acute, specialized, and complex care.

Where is the emergency department entrance at Grand River Hospital?
The emergency department has its own dedicated entrance at the corner of King Street West and Pine Street. This entrance is open around the clock, 24 hours a day. After 11 p.m., when the main King St W entrance closes, all urgent visitors must use this ER entrance.
What floor is the Grand River Hospital emergency department on?
The emergency department is located on the second floor in the E wing. Note that if you enter through the main King Street West entrance, you will arrive on the third floor — take the elevator or stairs down one level to reach the ER and patient registration.
Is there parking near the Grand River Hospital emergency department?
Yes. The ER entrance at King Street West and Pine Street has special parking available nearby. The main parking garage charges $3.75 per half hour to a daily maximum of $15.75. Pay machines accept cash, coin, and credit card. Accessible permit-only spots are available in all lots, though payment is still required.
Can I take transit to Grand River Hospital's emergency department?
Yes. GRT Route 7 stops directly outside the emergency department on both sides of King Street West. You can also take the ION light rail to the dedicated 'Waterloo Regional Health Network' (Grand River Hospital) station — it's wheelchair accessible, and the primary platform access is via the crosswalk at Pine Street.

Yes. The hospital offers an HPASS preloaded parking card available in 5, 10, or 30-day increments at a discounted rate. It is designed for patients and frequent visitors. HPASS cards must be purchased and activated at the hospital's Parking Office on site.
