Misericordia Community Hospital operates a modern, 24/7 emergency department in west Edmonton, serving approximately 60,000 patients annually across a 5,500-square-metre facility featuring 66 treatment spaces, 6 ambulance bays, and dedicated acute cardiac and mental health rooms. Operated by Covenant Health in cooperation with Alberta Health Services, the hospital provides full-service acute care including major trauma, cardiac emergencies, orthopedics, pediatrics, and specialized surgical services. Tips Before You Go

• The ED uses the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) — the most critically ill patients are seen first, so expect that wait times vary based on your condition's urgency.
• The new ED opened in November 2023 with nearly triple the space of the previous department, including dedicated mental health rooms — if you are experiencing a mental health crisis, let triage staff know immediately.
• If you need interpretation services, inform the triage nurse at registration — interpreters are available in person, via live video, or by phone at no charge.
• Parking is accessible from 87 Ave around the clock; if accessible parking at the front is full, additional accessible stalls are available on the south side of the Mother Rosalie Health Services Centre.
• For non-emergency medical needs, consider calling Health Link 811 before coming to the ED — a registered nurse can help you decide the most appropriate level of care.
